Practices

My base rates are for jobs that are complete and as close to turn-in ready as possible (not necessarily including the title pages and index).  While I do bill per page, I also take time into consideration.  Therefore, I reserve the right to bill a higher page rate for messy, dense, or highly technical transcripts.

My goal is to make this relationship run smoothly and be efficient for both of us, so, in light of that I have outlined some of my practices below.  If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a line on the contact page.

If you have a rush, please let me know as soon as possible, so I can plan for it as necessary. If your rush is longer than 50 pages, I would request that you send me the rush in sections.  This way, we can both be working on the transcript at the same time.

I also appreciate advanced notice when possible for longer jobs, even if they are regular time.  My regular turnaround is 48-72 hours, but if you have a 200-page job due in two days, please don’t wait to send it to me all at once; instead, we can work out a “send it to me in sections” schedule.

Overall, I just ask that you keep me informed on deadlines.  For instance, If you tell me you’ll be sending me 100 pages tonight, but for some reason you can’t, let me know when you’ll actually be sending it, so I can plan accordingly.

Additionally, in the spirit of communication, I ask that all new clients fill out this preference sheet so that we are on the same page as far as your style is concerned. I was trained in the style of Morson’s English Guide for Court Reporters, and I generally reference The Gregg Reference Manual and Merriam Webster; however, I completely respect the fact that there are many styles out there and that it’s your name on the transcript, so I have no problem working with your preferences.  For your reference, please find a sample of my work here.

As far as format of the work, I work with PDFs and will return any annotations as such.  If you don’t have a PDF printer, there is a free one at www.CutePDF.com.

Regarding payment, I e-mail invoices once a month at the end of each month, and I expect payment within 30 days of receipt.
